Yesterday I was downloading some pictures from a recent trip and noticed the pictures I had taken at the garden. I’m not much of a photographer, but the flowers were absolutely beautiful. As I scanned through the pictures I enjoyed looking them and remembering the trip. I noticed that one word I kept hearing myself say was, “Lovely.”
The flowers were lovely; attractive or beautiful especially in a graceful way (according to a dictionary definition). And they were attractive, beautiful and there was a definite grace about their beauty and splendor of colors and surroundings.
To think about such lovely things is an exercise in training the mind to recognize what is favorable, pleasing; as well as an opportunity to experience God’s grace in a little different way. Philippians 4:8 says to think about what is lovely. It can be the practice of the presence of God.
