Browsing movies at my local library I found a title, “Personal Best”. I read the description and although I chose not to check it out, the title stayed with me. Leadership is all about doing your personal best. That doesn’t mean doing what I can, or trying my hardest. It means a commitment to the ideal of achieving the highest, most honorable, best case scenario for everyone. Personal best leadership causes everyone to rise above their personal best to a synergy that redefines ‘best’. It exceeds all expectations.
I came across an anonymous quote a few years ago that impressed me.
“Excellence can be achieved if you…
Risk more than others think is safe,
Love more than others think is wise,
Dream more than others think is practical,
And expect more than others think is possible.”
Great leadership is excellence in character and influence.
Points to Ponder –
How do you evaluate the quote above? How do you see yourself in the risk, love, dream, and expect categories?
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being high, where do you see your leadership capabilities? On the same scale, where do you rate your leadership potential? What and why is the difference? How can you close the gap?
